How I Give a Presentation Nick Alexander

How I Give a Presentation

My return from the BTK (Building the Kingdom) Conference in Moreno Valley, California served as inspiration for my latest podcast.

In it, I share what I go through in order to create the most effective presentation I can, using both parody songs and Powerpoint.  I happen to have created three new parody songs for this event alone, which serves as a personal record.   (The very end of the podcast, I demonstrate one of them, a parody of Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” called “Don’t Believe Lies”).

The reason why I share my process is twofold: first, for those of my fan-base/listener-ship who is thinking about bringing me in to give a presentation, this shows what they can expect.  I pour everything I have into crafting the best presentation I can, filled with equal amounts of entertainment/fun and solid orthodox teaching.  I make sure the audience is served, that they are able to best relate to what I am speaking of, that it will be funny, that it will have moments of worship and power, that it will be eminently practical, and that it will be memorable.

The second reason is to be a help to other prospective public speakers; there are many resources out there as to how to give a good presentation.  This is my approach.  I hope it serves you.

Lastly, just like any other Prayer Meeting Podcast, it begins with a worship set that combines hymns, praise choruses, and Gregorian Chant.  The theme for this week is the Feast of All Saints, which crosses many denominational lines.  Among the songs is an addendum (or two) to the melody of “For All the Saints” that makes singing nine verses a little bit more interesting.  I hope that you become edified by the worship and the message therein.
